Recht voor een Recht voor allen: Grondenrechten in Suriname

Joop Vernooij, 1995

Right for one Right for all: Land rights in Suriname regarded the land rights problem that sparked discussions and stirred up many institutions in Suriname. Nationally and especially within organizations of traditional peoples, this has remained politically an important issue. On many fora, such as the meeting of the United Nations Working Group of Indigenous Peoples in Geneva in 1994, and at various regional meetings of Indigenous people in the Amazon region, the issue of land rights in Suriname has been high on the agenda. Besides current issues, the publication pays attention to the environment and sustainability, which are directly related to land rights.
